In the very
heart of old Cracow, at thumping with life Cracovians' most beloved street - Floriańska,
for ages there has been standing a tenement-house
that bears number 14. Its beautiful neo-classic facade harmoniously goes together with the
rhythm of nearby buildings.
It is simply inconceivable that behind the heavy and monumental door,
like behind a magic gate there hides the oldest in Cracow, quiet and charming hotel
"Pod Różą".
The history of the residence goes back to the 14th century . We retrieve more details in
the 16th century when Queen Bona's courtier - Italian called Prospero Provano - becomes
the owner of the house.
At the end of the 17th century the residence is renovated thoroughly and transformed into
a hotel. At the moment it earns significant popularity for years. Its visitors are
outstanding personalities:
heads of states, famous composers, authors (Tsar Alexander I),
Persian envoy to Napoleon - Mohamed Riza, Franz Liszt.
We are still laboriously writing the hotel's history and we would like to receive our
guests with simplicity and cordiality. |
